Hurricane Sandy

What’s a Hurricane?

Why was the storm so bad?

  1. Snow was VERY heavy (because of high moisture content)
  2. Winds were VERY strong
  3. Leaves – because it was still October many trees still had some leaves (making them easier for snow to stick and collect to).  The weight of the heavy tree branches was too much for the trunk so the tree would fall, often on power lines.
