How long have we been below freezing? Is this unusual? I guess not for Garrett County so much but damn it seems like a long time since we’ve been above freezing!

No not very unusual, other than some of the more mild winters in the 1990s and 2000s, during many “normal” winters Garrett County and Deep Creek will keep it’s snowpack from Dec to March.

Hello…just thought I would point out in the heading on your homepage that “It’s” in the phrase “A Climate of It’s Own” does not use an apostrophe, since it doesn’t stand for “It Is”. Thanks for a great site…I use it all the time now!

You are absolutely correct, and thank you for pointing out…fixed now!

This is a great website. However, would it be possible to add a section for year-to-date snow totals for several points in Garrett County?

Hi Ron, thank you much…what I’ve been doing is keeping a running count of the current year’s snowfall on the Annual Snowfall page. I’m glad you reminded me I’ll add that now. This is the amount of snowfall recorded in Deep Creek and Wisp. I would like to include measurements from other areas of the county, however I would need to get consistent reports from those other areas as I am only able to measure in McHenry.
